My dining experience at Hood River’s Gorge Grill - Week of 8 1 2005
Written by: Renee

Gorge GrillI went out last week to have dinner with some goods friends I have not seen in a while. We all agreed to we should try the Gorge Grill since none of us had ever eaten there before. I have to say we all agreed at the end of the evening that we had made a great choice.

As for myself, I liked the fact that they had nice patio seating in front. I love eating outside on a warm summers night. However my friends chose to sit inside for dinner. Once inside the restaurant I loved the atmosphere and décor. I couldn’t wait to get a table so I could look at their menu selections.

We really had no wait time for a table. It was a weeknight however. I assume weekends may be a different story as it is not a huge restaurant. We had a very nice gentleman escort our group to a nice table in a private little room off to one side of the restaurant. This made for a nice intimate dining experience. We even had a flat screen T.V. up on the wall.

I then was handed my menu and wine list. I found that they have a variety of items to choose from. All of us in my dining party have very different tastes and none of us had a problem finding something we wanted. The problem more was trying to decide.

We all finally made our decisions along with what wines we wanted, in which our waiter was very helpful in helping us decide on a wine. We started with a couple of appetizers. I have to say the coconut ahi tuna appetizer was wonderful. It came with just a touch of wasabi, which I really enjoyed. Next came our main course. We were all very pleased with our meals. After such a great meal, we all decided to have dessert. Mine was wonderful! I had something that the waiter referred to as “death by chocolate”. I would describe it more as heavenly chocolate cake. One of my girlfriends however did not like her dessert. We alerted the waiter to this and he quickly brought her something different.

When it came time to leave we all decided this was one of the better meals we had all had in the gorge area and we would all be back!
